Aim:
The aim of the St.Roch’s Parish Social Committee is to work, as a Sub-Committee of the Parish Pastoral Council, with the various groups in the Parish to provide a range of opportunities for members of the Parish and School Community to gather socially in order to build on and enrich their experience of belonging to a supportive and vibrant faith community.
Focus:
Our focus is on planning a variety of activities that have appeal for as broad a cross section of the Parish community as possible. We endeavour to place these on the Calendar at appropriate times of the year to give a reasonably even spread of activities for the various demographic groups within the Parish.
We plan activities as a committee and also support Parish events such as the Adult Faith Discussion Evenings, the Parish Annual General Meeting and Dinner, the Men’s and Women’s Golf Days and the like, by assisting with various aspects of the organization as appropriate.
Members:
- Judge Andrea Tsalamandris, Anna Robinson, Patrick Naidoo, Tony Kennedy, Peta Taylor, Francoise Borg, Julie Landers.
Meetings and Event Organisation:
We meet approximately five times per year to plan and organise events. Two or three of us nominate to coordinate each event and we work in these teams to plan and prepare, calling on others to help when needed. We are also fortunate to have an enthusiastic and willing group of helpers who volunteer to assist us at the various events, and this is always greatly appreciated.
We provide a Report from the Social Committee at each Parish Pastoral Council meeting.
Calendar:
We produce a Parish Calendar of Events in which we incorporate events organised by the Social Committee, the Parish Pastoral Council and the various groups in the Parish.
Membership of the Committee:
We enthusiastically welcome anyone who would like to join the Social Committee, contribute ideas and/or help with events.
